ECO4 Grants are available for the following insulation types
Wall Insulation
Around 30-35% of all heat loss from UK homes is due to un-insulated external walls.

Depending on what your property's wall type is, will determine which type of wall insulation is suitable for your property.

Cavity Wall Insulation
-
Can save between £145-£480 a year on your fuel bills depending on property size (Figures from the Energy Saving Trust and assume property is a gas heated home and sized between a flat to a detached home).
-
Walls are normally drilled and then filled from the outside, which minimises disruption and mess.
-
Can be completed within a few hours.
-
Grant funding is available that will cover the full cost of installation (qualifying criteria apply).

Internal Wall Insulation
-
Can save between £195-£650 a year on your fuel bills depending on property size (Figures from the Energy Saving Trust and assume property is a gas heated home and sized between a small flat to a large detached home).
-
It will slightly reduce the floor area of any rooms which it is applied (roughly about 100mm per wall)
-
Can be quite disruptive to install and does require the removal and re-fixing of items such as switches and radiators.
-
Any issues with penetrating or rising damp must be rectified before install can commence.
-
Grant funding is available that can cover the full cost of installation (qualifying criteria apply).

External Wall Insulation
-
Can save between £195-£650 a year on your fuel bills depending on property size (Figures from the Energy Saving Trust and assume property is a gas heated home and sized between a small flat to a large detached home).
-
External wall insulation will not only improve the look of your home, but also improve the weather proofing and sound resistance, alongside reducing drafts and heat loss.
-
Having external wall insulation fitted to your home requires no internal work so the disruption can be kept to a minimum.
-
Some period properties cannot have this installed to the front of the property but can have it installed to the rear.
-
It will also increase the lifespan of your walls as it protects your brickwork, but these do need to be structurally sound before installation.
-
Grant funding is available that can cover the full cost of installation (qualifying criteria apply).
Roof Insulation
Almost 40% of all heat loss from UK homes is due to un-insulated roof space.
It is possible that your property may have 1, 2 or all 3 roof types that require insulating, and these can be covered under the ECO4 scheme.

Loft Insulation
-
Can save between £500-£690 a year on your fuel bills depending on property size (Figures from the Energy Saving Trust and assume property is a gas heated home and sized between a Mid-terrace house to a detached home).
-
It is recommended that there should be a minimum of 270mm of insulation in the loft space.
-
Installation of loft insulation is quick and should cause minimal disruption.
-
Grant funding is available that can cover the full cost of installation and covers lofts that are empty or need a top up to meet the recommended minimum. (qualifying criteria apply).

Room in Roof Insulation
-
Can save between £500-£690 a year on your fuel bills depending on property size (Figures from the Energy Saving Trust and assume property is a gas heated home and sized between a Mid-terrace house to a detached home).
-
Many older properties that were originally built with loft room space or 'room-in-roof' were either not insulated at all or insulated using inadequate materials and techniques when compared to today's building regulations
-
Grant funding is available that can cover the full cost of installation (qualifying criteria apply).

Flat Roof Insulation
-
Can save between £500-£690 a year on your fuel bills depending on property size (Figures from the Energy Saving Trust and assume property is a gas heated home and sized between a Mid-terrace house to a detached home).
-
Flat Roof insulation should preferably be insulated from above, which means minimal disruption to the household.
-
Grant funding is available that can cover the full cost of installation (qualifying criteria apply).
Other Heating Grant Available
The below heating measures can be upgraded alongside the insulation with the ECO4 scheme.

Gas Boiler Upgrade
If your gas boiler is non condensing and you own the home you live in then you may be eligible for a gas boiler upgrade.

To check if your boiler is non-condensing it will likely have been installed before 2005 (unless exemptions were given) and have no condensing pipe (white plastic pipe) coming from the boiler and the flue (pipe from boiler to the outside that vents the emissions) will be metal and not plastic.

First Time Central Heating
If you currently live in a property that has never had a central heating system and has a gas meter that has been in the property since before 1st April 2022 you may be eligible for a new gas central heating system.

Available to both homeowners and private rental tenants.

Air Source Heat Pump
If your property is currently heated by Electric, LPG or Oil you may be eligible for a Air Source Heat Pump.
This is available to both homeowners and private rental tenants.

Solar PV
If your property is currently heated by efficient electric heating; Air Source Heat Pump or High Heat Retention Electric Storage Heaters you may be eligible for Solar PV through the ECO4 scheme.

Available to homeowners and private rental tenants.

Smart Heating Controls
If you currently have a condensing gas boiler, likely installed within the last 10 years, you may be eligible for a new set of smart heating controls.

Available for homeowners and for private rental tenants when installed alongside First time central heating, an Air source heat pump or either Internal or External wall insulation.
